Patrick Joseph "Pat" Ortiz, 49, of Topeka, passed away Tuesday, July 7, 2015. He was born November 23, 1965, in Topeka, Kansas, the son of Pedro and Olivia (Campos) Ortiz.
Survivors include his significant other, Cathy Cromley; children, Maria, Allen and Lauren; stepchildren, Christi and Joseph; grandchildren, Chasity, Larissa and Dominic; step grandchildren, Blake, Ty, Joely, Raelynn, Elizabeth and Cyerah; sister, Gina (Dave) and brother, Peter. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Mireya.
Pat had a personality larger than life and was well known and loved by all. He had a heart of gold, with a special place in his heart for his children and grandchildren.
Pat was a cook by trade. Nothing gave him greater pleasure than being a member of Team Wubba's, and participating in the American Royal World Series of BBQ every year. The American Royal was his passion. Pat also loved to cook and entertain for his family and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 13th at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 201 NE Chandler in Topeka, Kansas. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Cremation will follow the ceremony. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Guadalupe School in Topeka.
