Paul Eugene Hughes, 73, of Wetmore, Kansas passed away Monday, August 10, 2015. He was born May 26, 1942, in Adair, Oklahoma, the son of Milburn and Opal (Garner) Hughes.
Paul was raised in Adair, Oklahoma and graduated from Adair High School in 1960. Following high school, Paul joined the United States Marine Corps. He served at Camp Pendleton in California from 1960-1966 and earned the rank of L.Cpl.
After leaving the Marines, Paul started his own business, Hughes Drywall. He retired in 2010.
Paul married Cheryl L. Jasman in Buena Vista, California. He says the date was June 29, 1964. She says it was June 30, 1964. She survives of the home. Paul is also survived by his children, Opaljean Hughes, Paul Hughes Jr., Paige Hughes, Lindsey Hughes, Shayla Hughes, Stephanie Hughes; siblings, Connie Lundy, Betty Schilt; 7 grandkids and 2 great-grandkids. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Marvin Hughes, Leroy Hughes, Earl Hughes and Helen Walker.
Paul loved spending time with his family, gardening and working in his yard.
Paul was cremated. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 15th at the American Legion, 282 2nd Street, Wetmore, KS 66550. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cheryl Hughes, c/o Wetmore National Bank, 314 2nd Street, Wetmore, KS 66550.
