Paul W. Shields

Paul W. Shields, 57 of Topeka passed away on Tuesday, March 18, 2014. He was born on July 14, 1956 to John and Patricia Shields. He graduated from Topeka West High School and received a degree in Business and a secondary degree in History from Washburn University. He worked in insurance since he graduated and was Vice President at Kansas Mutual Insurance Company for over 30 years. He married Janice Bahre on August 14, 1976.

Paul was fun-loving and made a point to see others happy. He celebrated every holiday with his family with enthusiasm and a touch of Paul. He enjoyed finding the perfect gag gift and spent all year preparing for his "Santa Paul" routine for the family.

Paul is survived by his wife; his children Scott Shields and Rebecca Shields of Topeka; his parents; and his sister Pamela Nace of Lawrence. His younger brother James Shields preceded him in death.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 24, 2014 at Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Road. Private family inurnment will be at a later date.
