Peggy Jo Chittenden, 76, of Topeka, passed away on Saturday, November 13, 2021.
Peggy was born February 27, 1945 in Topeka, Kansas to Oscar C. and Josephine (Stramel) Young. She was raised in the St. Joseph German Catholic Church Community. She graduated from Hayden High School and went on to attend Washburn University.
Peggy enjoyed floral design and was a graduate of the Kansas School of Floral Design. She was also the owner and operator of Petals and Pots Floral Shop.
Peggy married Gary Chittenden in 1978. He preceded her in death on September 2, 2021 at the age of 80.
Peggy and Gary were owners and operators of True Value Hardware Stores. They enjoyed splitting their time between homes in Topeka and Scottsdale, Arizona. They also spent much of their time in Branson, Missouri and enjoyed traveling.
Peggy is survived by her daughter, Victoria Waetzig-Richmond and Jim Belshe of Topeka; her son, Rob Waetzig of Kansas City, Missouri; her grandchildren, Christopher Richmond and Nicole Richmond; her great-grandchildren, Alexander S. Kersting and Ava Josephine Kersting.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Pamela Young-Rusk; two brothers, Cliff C. Young and Greg P. Young.
Honoring Peggy's request cremation is planned. A Celebration of Life for Peggy and Gary will be held at a later date.
