Peggy Anne (Hedges) Gordinier, 72, of Topeka, passed away Wednesday, January 3, 2018.
She was born December 1, 1945, in Arkansas City, Kansas, the daughter of Lee Bryan and Opal (Walling) Hedges. She was honored as Queen of the Arkalalah Parade in 1957 in Arkansas City. She was a 1963 graduate of Arkansas City High School and received a Bachelor's Degree in Education from Emporia State Teacher's College, Emporia, Kansas.
Peggy was a teacher at Jardine Junior High School in Topeka, and secretary for Dale Carnegie Courses in Topeka. She substitute taught and was Principle Secretary of Jefferson West Elementary and was employed by Seaman School District.
Peggy married Richard Eldon Gordinier on September 28, 1968 in Topeka. He survives. Other survivors include four children, Ryan Richard (Joni) Gordinier, Midlothian, VA, Craig Lee (Janette) Gordinier, Kansas City, MO, Megan Lea (Chris) Jones, Topeka and Derek Eldon (Julie) Gordinier, Wellman, IA; ten grandchildren, Chloe, Christian, Carly and Creighton Gordinier, Hayden and Brooklyn Gordinier, Avery and Macey Jones and Addison and Riley Gordinier; and a sister, Bonnie Waltrip, Ponca City, OK.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Dorothy Reid.
Peggy enjoyed spending time with family, reading, sailing, skiing and dancing with Richard.
The family will receive friends and family at 9:30 a.m., Monday, January 8, 2018 the Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Rd, Topeka and a celebration of Peggy's life will follow at 10:00 a.m.
