Peggy Livingston

Peggy Sue Livingston, 66, Topeka, passed away on Saturday, November 22, 2008.

Peggy was born January 14, 1942 in Manhattan, the daughter of Merle C. and Byrnece P. (Foote) Hofman. She attended Manhattan schools and graduated from Manhattan High School in 1960. She graduated with honors from St. Luke's Hospital School of Nursing in Kansas City in 1964. She later attended Kansas State University and Washburn University where she pursued her Nursing degree.

As a Registered Nurse, she worked as a Nursing Home Director, Hospital Floor Supervisor at the V. A. Medical Center and later in Chemical Dependency. She retired early when she became disabled due to Multiple Sclerosis.

She was a lifelong Episcopalian, first being an active member at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Manhattan and later at both St. David's Episcopal Church and Grace Episcopal Cathedral. Among her many nursing and professional memberships, Peggy was most proud of her association with Alcoholics Anonymous in Topeka and her 24 years of sobriety.

Peggy married Chuck Livingston on July 30, 1964 in Manhattan. They later divorced. She relocated to Topeka where she met her dear companion of 20 years, Philip Davis. Survivors include sister, Marcia Marker and husband, James, Topeka; nieces, Kristy Marker and Jaime Jones; nephews, Doug Shubert, Kirby, Tyler and Spencer Marker. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Carol Shubert; and companion Philip Davis.

Peggy was an organ donor to Rocky Mountain Multiple Sclerosis Center in Denver, Colorado.

Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 5, 2008 at Grace Episcopal Cathedral. Inurnment will follow at 12:30 p.m. at Sunset Cemetery in Manhattan.
