Peggy Lynn Conklin Smith, 51, of Topeka, passed away Thursday, November 5, 2009.
She was born November 30, 1957 in Topeka, the daughter of Charles W. and Shirley (Hanes) Conklin, Jr. She was a 1975 graduate of Highland Park High School.
She was employed by Shawnee Animal Hospital over 30 years.
Peggy married Doug Smith on March 20, 2002 in Eureka Springs, AR. He survives. Other survivors include her daughter, Lindsay Spring; her siblings, Jan Conklin, Steve Conklin, Anna Reese and Scott Conklin; three granddaughters, Charleigh, Lilly and Brynn Urton, all of the Topeka area. She was preceded in death by her father.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Tuesday, November 10, 2009 at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota Ave., Topeka, KS 66605. Interment will follow at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. Mrs. Smith will lie in state after 3 p.m., Monday at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Helping Hands Humane Society, 2625 NW Rochester Rd., Topeka, KS 66617.
