Peter D. Latham, 93, of Topeka, passed away Sunday, January 30, 2022.
He was born June 2, 1928, in Portland, Maine, the son of Peter D. and Eva May (Leighton) Latham.
He attended Portland High School.
Peter joined the Army Air Corp in 1946 and served in the United States, Germany and Africa. While stationed at Forbes Air Force Base in Topeka, KS he met and married Nadine Atchison. They were married December 24, 1948 in Topeka. From this union they had five children. In 1951 he was reactivated into the Air Force and served in the Korean War.
Peter was employed by the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company for approximately 30 years.
He was a member of Quivera Heights Church of Christ in Topeka and the American Legion Post #31.
Peter is survived by his wife, Nadine of Topeka; his children, Peter L. (Catherine) Latham of Ozawkie, KS, Dennis (Lorraine) Latham of Topeka, Lorrie (Robert) Spayd of Topeka and Deanna Latham of Washington State; his 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; his sister, Joan; his two brothers, Eddie and Joe.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Larry Latham and 7 siblings.
Peter enjoyed traveling. He traveled 49 states with his wife and also played in the Kansas Senior Olympics. He loved spending time with his family and friends.
Peter was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He will be missed by all.
A funeral ceremony will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, February 5, 2022 at Quivira Heights Church of Christ, 1718 SW Crest Drive, Topeka, KS 66604.
Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, 3616 SW 6th Ave., Topeka, KS 66606.
Dove Cremations and Funerals – Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Rd., Topeka, KS 66610 is assisting with the family.
