Phillip Nathan Mansfield

March 31, 1946 — April 9, 2015

Phillip Nathan Mansfield was born August 31, 1946 and died April 8, 2015. He was a graduate of Topeka High School, attended Washburn University (Garvey Scholarship) and Kansas University with a degree in foreign language and a minor in German. He was an avid reader of world religions, spirituality and languages. Gregarious and engaging, he loved debate.

In his younger years, he was an enthusiastic joiner of Boy Scouts, band, debate, ROTC, Alpha Delta fraternity, school plays and many other school activities. Irrepressible, with a sharp intellect, he had a wide range of friends.

Phillip was the oldest of four siblings. Survivors include his mother Virginia Mansfield, daughter Stephanie Jensen (Scott), brother Thomas Mansfield (Janice), brother Gerald Mansfield (Roberta), sister Nancy Merritt (Charles) and three grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Ecumenical Campus Ministries, 1204 Oread Ave., Lawrence, Kansas 66044

A memorial service will be held on May 23, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at West Side Baptist Church, 1008 SW 4th Street, Topeka, Kansas. Visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 10:30 a.m.
