Phyllis Claire Demoret, 77, of Topeka, passed away at her home on Thursday, December 29, 2022.
She was born January 20, 1945, in Garnett, Kansas, the daughter of Fred and Florence (Feuerborn) Bach. She graduated from Garnett High School in 1963.
Phyllis worked as a secretary for several organizations before staying home to raise her children. Later she was a paraeducator in the Topeka Public Schools. For 18 years she improved the educational experience of many students at Whitson and Randolph elementary schools. She retired in 2010.
Phyllis was a member of the Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church, of Topeka.
Phyllis married Billy Demoret on January 11, 1964 at Holy Angels Church in Garnett, Kansas. He survives, along with their children Debbie Reiff and husband Brad of Topeka, Darin Demoret of Topeka, Dani Meier and husband Justin of Salina; grandchildren Braden, Griffin, and Haley Reiff of Topeka and Lex, Ace, Kate, Finn, and Grey Meier of Salina; and her brother Herb Bach and wife Cynthia of Jetmore, Kansas. She was preceded in death by her brother Don Bach and her sister Doris Lickteig.
Phyllis enjoyed playing cards – especially bridge. She loved cats and watching KU basketball. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, and collecting photographs of family and friends. She also loved watching her children's and grandchildren's activities – whether sports, theater or dance.
Phyllis was cremated. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 13th at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 3601 SW 17th Street in Topeka. The family will receive friends at the church for an hour prior to the service. Burial will be at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Friends of the Topeka Zoo, 635 SW Gage, Topeka, KS 66606; or the Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library, 1515 SW 10th Avenue, Topeka, KS 66604-1374.
