Phyllis Nelson

Phyllis "Sue" Nelson, 75, of Topeka, passed away Friday, April 4, 2014. She was born January 9, 1939, in Paola, KS, the daughter of Ralph and Dorothy (Koelsch) Bendorf. Phyllis was employed by Southwestern Bell for 34 years before retiring in 1991. She then worked for OFG Financial until retiring in January of 2014.

Survivors include her son, David Nelson; grandchildren, Michael Nelson, Alaina Nelson (Robert), Leana Leach (Mason); sister, Connie Tilton (Jim); brothers, John Carlson (Donna) and Steve Carlson (Donna), and three great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her longtime companion, Bob Renfro.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 11th at the Mount Hope Chapel. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service. A graveside inurnment will be held immediately following at Penwell Gabel Cemetery in Topeka. Memorial contributions may be made to Midland Care, 200 SW Frazier Circle, Topeka, KS 66606.
