Phyllis Jane Punzo, 81, of Topeka passed away on December 11, 2017 surrounded by family. Born August 22, 1936, in Russell, KS, she was the daughter of Paul and Iva (Teer) Lawson.
She graduated from Holton High School in 1954. Phyllis married Lee Neeley in 1956; they later divorced. She married Paul Punzo in 1970. She was employed as a Mental Health Technician at the Kansas Neurological Institute for 26 years.
She was a lover of family, raising kids, spoiling grandkids, KU basketball and of course, John Wayne. She had a soft spot in her heart for kids with special needs. Phyllis also enjoyed reading, puzzles, and visiting with her friends.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, Paul and her brother, William "Uncle Bill" Lawson.
She is survived by her children; Sherry (John) Root, Tim Neeley, Scott (Nancy) Neeley, Toni (Vance) Garrard, Paul Francisco (Ellen) Punzo, and Mariah Lunson, 13 grandchildren; Reed and Aaron (Jenny) Endsley, Talor (J.C.) Neeley, Alicia, Hannah, and Ethan Garrard, Regan and Madison Neeley, Christopher and Rachel Neeley, and Jason (Michelle), Sean (Traci), and Tyler Root, eight great-grandchildren; Thor, Collin, Addyson, Jordon, Carson, Madison, Chase, and Seras and many others that have called her "mom" or "grandma" through the years.
A Celebration of Life will be held December 17, 2017 from 2:30-4:00PM at Lakeside Baptist Church, Silver Lake, KS 66539. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Meals on Wheels, 2701 SW East Circle Drive South Suite 2, Topeka, KS 66606.
