Ralph Lee Brewer

Ralph Lee Brewer, 86, of Topeka, passed away peacefully at home Monday, September 13, 2021.

He was born November 16, 1934, in Kansas City, Kansas, the son of Ralph Lee Sr. and Dorothy (Chroninger) Brewer. He attended Independence (MO) High School and Southwest Missouri State University. He served in the Army and the Air Force where he was a Small Arms Instructor.

Mr. Brewer was a member of the Lowman United Methodist Church where he was a trustee and belonged to the men's choir. He was also a member of Mayetta Blue Lodge 393, Arab Shrine Greeters and Legion of Honor, of Topeka. Prior to moving to Topeka he lived in Stockton, California, where he was a member of the Acapella Men's Choir. He also lived in Spokane, WA; Moline, IL; and Independence, MO.

Ralph was previously married to Marge Tormena; they divorced. He later married Kay Hardy, who passed away. Ralph married Bessie Brown on November 26, 2011 in Topeka. She survives, along with his children Ralph III (Amy) of Olathe, Joe Hardy (Lisa) of Mt. Vernon, WA, Ellen (Brian) Nastruz of Barrington, IL, Darren (Traci) Brown of Topeka, Deborah (Frank) Roberts of Topeka, and David (Sally) Brown of Auburn, KS; 13 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; former wife Kay Hardy; daughter Dawn Grey and stepson Robert Hardy; and sister Barbara Wells.

Ralph remodeled several houses and was always building, tinkering and "puttering." He loved bodybuilding (competitively when young), enjoyed music, landscaping, football, and family.

Ralph was cremated. A memorial ceremony will be held on Monday, September 20th at 11:00 AM, at Lowman United Methodist Church, 4101 SW 15th Street in Topeka, 66604. The family will receive friends and visitors at the church starting at 10:00 AM. Interment will be at Rock Island National Cemetery in Moline, Illinois at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Lowman United Methodist Church and Midland Hospice, 200 SW Frazier Circle, Topeka, KS 66606.
