Randal "Randy" Lynn Davis

August 3, 1964 — February 24, 2025

Randal “Randy” Lynn Davis, age 60, of Lawrence passed away unexpectedly on February 24, 2025. He was born on August 3, 1964, in Topeka, the son of Dennis and Barbara (Gudenkauf) Davis. Randy graduated from Topeka West in 1982 and married his high school sweetheart Sherry Nielsen on October 18, 1986.

Randy’s passion for cars started when he was young, working on them with his uncles and at Kaw Area Vo-Tech while he was in high school. He began his career in the automotive industry at Vic Yarrington Oldsmobile in 1982. Randy then moved to a new role as Service Manager at Lewis Toyota where he worked for over 25 years, ultimately retiring in 2018 as the Fixed Operations Manager. He took pride in customer service and the leadership of his team.

After his retirement, Randy and Sherry moved to Lawrence where they spent their summers at Clinton Lake camping and boating. Randy was an avid NASCAR fan and proudly cheered for the Jayhawks and Chiefs. Over the years they loved to travel with friends and family. He enjoyed helping others and was always a phone call away.

He is survived by his wife, Sherry. Other survivors include his son Nicholas and fiancée Bailey Spickler; his mother Barbara Davis; his brother Doug Davis and wife Linda; his stepsister Darla Walker and husband Mark; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Dennis Davis.

A Celebration of Life will be held on March 14, 2025, from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Dove Southwest Chapel located at 3700 SW Wanamaker Road in Topeka.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Helping Hands Humane Society of Topeka, 5720 SW 21st Street, Topeka, KS 66604 or Jayhawk Motorsports of the University of Kansas, 3138 Learned Hall, 1530 W 15th Street, Lawrence, KS 66045.
