Ray Carrick

November 1, 1941 — October 5, 2020

Ray Carrick, 78, Topeka, passed away peacefully at his home after an extended battle with cancer surrounded by his family on Monday, October 5th, 2020.

Ray was born November 1, 1941 in Harper Kansas, the son of Clarence and Maxine (Lockwood) Carrick. He graduated from Enterprise Academy in Enterprise Kansas and attended Union College in Lincoln Nebraska.

He owned and operated Carrick Electric for over 22 years, retiring in 2011. Even though he officially retired, it was common to see him out on job sites helping out or working on projects at the church.

He was a member of the Wanamaker Seventh Day Adventist Church where he served as a Deacon. He and his wife, Linda, participated in many mission trips around the world and they also had a passion for traveling for fun.

Ray married Linda Arvidson on September 27, 1973 in Topeka Kansas. His wife of 47 years survives. Other survivors include Brad (Tina) Carrick and their 2 children Edison and Monica, Calhoun GA, Greg (Susan) Carrick and their 3 children, Roxy, Christi, and Allan Topeka KS, Randy (Donna) Arvidson and their 2 children, Donald and Dannielle, Brighton, MI, and Mike (Lisa) Arvidson and their 4 children, Michael John, Matthew, Kayla, and Ashley, Topeka, KS.; 19 great grandchildren; and sister, Carolyn Simpson, Lincoln, Nebraska. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Anna Schultz; and infant twin sons.

Family was everything to Ray. He enjoyed spending time with family and was even known to get a game of basketball going whenever possible. If he couldn't play basketball his second choice was watching Kansas Jayhawk basketball. Everyone enjoyed Ray's homemade ice-cream at family gatherings. Ray had a green thumb and people looked forward to his tomatoes every year and this year was no exception. Tomatoes were aplenty this year.

Private graveside services will be held at Mount Hope Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Wanamaker Seventh Day Adventist Church, 2435 SW Wanamaker Rd, Topeka, KS 66614 or Midland Care, 200 SW Frazier Circle, Topeka, KS 66606.
