Rayann Helen Burdiek

RayAnn Helen Burdiek died February 15th, 2016. She was born Feb 21, 1934, in Neosho, Missouri, the daughter of Raymond Acton Fair and Helen Elizabeth Sims Fair. She graduated from Parsons High School, Pittsburg State University, Pittsburg, Kansas, and the University of Colorado, Boulder.

RayAnn began her teaching career in Ottawa, Kansas, and moved to Topeka in 1960, teaching at Highland Park High School, Jardine Junior High School, and retired in 1994 from Topeka High School where she had been a counselor for twenty-eight years. She was married to Edgar J. Burdiek on July 18, 1970. He survives.

Other survivors include: two step-children Joseph R. Burdiek (Barbara) and Debra J. Edwards (Gene), four step-grandchildren, Jennifer Burdiek (Drake Wylie), Kevin Burdiek , Cole Edwards, Will Edwards, and one great –grandchild Briley Wylie all of Topeka.

RayAnn was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Beulah Chapter, Order of Eastern Star; Chapter DN, P.E.O., and Beta Pi Chapter, Delta Kappa Gamma. She served on the Board of Directors for Doorstep, Inc. She was also a frequent volunteer at TPAC, Civic Theater, CASA, and First Presbyterian Church where she served as a docent for the Tiffany windows tours, and Noon Noels luncheons. RayAnn and Ed also enjoyed traveling and attending family sporting and musical events.

A Memorial Service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church sanctuary, 817 SW Harrison in Topeka on Saturday Feb 20th, at 10:30 a.m. Family members will greet friends and family prior to the service at 9:30 a.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to The Legends at Capital Ridge-Memory Care, Midland Hospice, or First Presbyterian Church all of Topeka.
