Raymond Clay Lowder

September 22, 1954 — July 6, 2014

Raymond "Ray" Clay Lowder, 59, of Ozawkie, KS died at his home Sunday, July 6, 2014.

Ray was born September 22, 1954 in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was raised in Northeast Kansas and attended Jackson Heights High School. He met his wife Pam Rookstool when they were teenagers and they spent the next 40 years side by side raising their four children and grandchildren together.

Ray worked the majority of his life in the housing industry as a carpenter doing framing, siding, and windows. He also spent time as a retail salesman at Energy Save Appliance in Topeka working alongside his father-in-law Hubert "HT" Rookstool. He and his wife Pam spent two years bringing live music to Topeka as the owners of the Park Inn bar. In addition to his work, he also spent time coaching youth basketball for his children. Most recently he volunteered his time as a Commissioner and Board Member of Lakeside Village.

Ray enjoyed fishing, Chiefs Football, KU Basketball, and working to improve his community. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his kids and grandkids.
Ray was passionate in his love for God, his country, his community, his friends, and above all his family. His unique sense of humor and words of wisdom left a mark on everyone he met. He will be greatly missed by all his friends and family.

Ray is survived by his mother Theresa Phipps of Oskaloosa, his sister Barb Pittenger and husband Steve of Lawrence, his wife Pam of the home, daughter Heather Lowder of Topeka, daughter Karlee Bocquin and husband Gabe of Topeka, daughter Ashley Lowder and husband Chuck Freed of Ozawkie, and son Nate Lowder of Olathe. He is also survived by his grandchildren Dylan, Bronsen, Hendrix, Ash, Charles, Tyler, Zoe, Trent, Dakota, Beckham, and great granddaughter MayCee. Other survivors include numerous brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews, and many close family friends.

Memorial contributions may be made to Pam Lowder to be used for the Ray Lowder Memorial Boat Dock Fund at Lakeside Village: 9887 Main Street Lakeside Village Ozawkie, KS 66070.
