and a master's degree in international relations from Boston College. He was an Army veteran, serving in the
Korean and Vietnam wars. He served for 21 years before retiring at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in 1969. He
was a warden at the Kansas State Penitentiary at Lansing from 1970 to 1973 and vice-president of Highway Oil
from 1974 to 1988 in Topeka. He was a member of Assumption Catholic Church and the Masonic Organization.

Friday at Assumption Catholic Church. Private inurnment will take place in Fort Leavenworth National Cemetery
in Leavenworth at a later date.

11. Visitation times, place: Mr. Gaffney will lie in state and the family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00
p.m. Wednesday evening.
