Raymond H. Thompson, 81, of Topeka, passed away, Sunday, October 19, 2008 at a Topeka hospital.
He was born August 25, 1927 in Topeka the son of Harry and Mildred Thompson. Raymond served in the Navy from 1945-1946.
He worked for A&A Auto Salvage, A&B Salvage, A1 Salvage and USD 501.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Olga. Other survivors include, 3 sons, Jerry and Robert Thompson, both of Berryton; Darrell Thompson, Lawrence; 2 daughters, Connie Seley, Topeka; Joyce Grimmett, Silver Lake; 11 grandchildren, many great grandchildren, 2 brothers, Harold Thompson, Topeka; Gary Thompson, Seattle, WA; 2 sisters, Virginia Fleming, Holton; and Gertrude Valdivia, Topeka.
Mr. Thompson will lie in state after 3:00 p.m. Thursday at the Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel where the family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. that evening. Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with burial to follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
