Reuben James "Karnage" Juarez, Jr., 42, of Topeka, passed away Tuesday, December 17, 2019.
He was born August 22, 1977, in Topeka, Kansas, the son of Reuben and Karin Ann (McWhirt) Juarez, Sr. He was a 1995 graduate of Seaman High School and KAW Valley Technical School in Topeka.
Reuben was employed by Blue Cross and Blue Shield and later for Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in Topeka.
He was a member of the Gamers Outpost, Topeka Cosplay Society and was Co-Founder Game League Unlimited. He won the 2016 and 2017 Annual Editor's Award, to be renamed in his honor as Reuben James "Karnagerulz" Juarez Annual Editor's Award, for the Gamers Outpost. He was a Certified Pokémon Trainer in Topeka. He participated in Extra Life Charity from 2015 through 2019.
Survivors include three children, Selena Ann Juarez, Karin Renae Juarez and Reuben Brian Patrick Juarez, III; his mother, Karin Juarez; his father, Reuben Juarez, Sr.; his brother, Brandon Juarez, all of Topeka; his sisters, Khristina (Norman) Raines of Meriden and Amanda Juarez of Topeka; his maternal grandmother, Adelaide McWhirt of Topeka; his paternal grandfather, Rito Juarez of Topeka; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; and his grand-dog, Chuck.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, James McWhirt; his paternal grandmother, Marcelina Juarez; and his uncle, Paul "Hollywood" Juarez.
Reuben enjoyed spending time with Chuck and his family, playing video games, comic books, Cosplay, wrestling, car shows, and was an avid KC Royals fan.
A celebration of life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 28, 2019 at the Dove Cremations and Funerals, Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Rd, Topeka. Cremation will follow the service.
The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
The family encourages those attending to wear blue, KC Royals or gamers/nerd attire.
