Reva Gaylene Frazey

Reva Gaylene Frazey passed away on July 25, 2011 at the age of 77 after a long battle with heart disease, lung disease, and finally lung cancer.

Gaylene was born on October 23, 1933 in Wakeeney, KS, the daughter of Respy and Leona (Staatz) Houston. She attended high school in Wakeeney and Hill City and was a member of the Hill City Methodist Church.

Gaylene worked as a Nurse Aide at Graham County Hospital and after attending the Kansas School of Floral Design in Lawrence, Kansas, worked as a florist at the Hill City Greenhouse for several years. However, she is most remembered as being a wonderful and loving homemaker, mother, wife, grandmother (referred to as Nana by her grandchildren and Nana 2 by her great grandchildren) and friend. Those close to her remember her warm, nurturing spirit and her ability to lighten a room with her smile and sense of humor. She loved playing cards and enjoying a good cup of coffee with friends and family.

Gaylene is survived by her husband of 61 years, Leo L. Frazey. They married in Hill City on January 13, 1950. Since 1992, Gaylene and Leo have lived and traveled full time in their RV, spending extended times in Joplin, Missouri, Oelwein, Iowa and Alamo, Texas. They missed their Graham County friends very much while traveling.

Gaylene is also survived by her daughter, Teresa (Bret) Deardorff, Topeka; sons, Bruce (Louise) Frazey, Miami, FL, Robert (Nancy) Frazey, Hill City, KS, Rodney (Terri) Frazey, Copperas Cove, TX; 13 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and sister, Carolyn Walts, Craig, CO. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Joyce McAtee and brother, Ronald Houston.

Memorial Services will be held Saturday, August 27, 2011 at Hill City United Methodist Church, Hill City, Kansas at 1:30 p.m.

Memorial services will be held at the Veterans Cemetery in Wakeeney in the near future and at a later date at Trophy Gardens RV Resort in Alamo, TX.
