Richard A. Jepson

November 9, 1935 — February 4, 2015

Richard Anton (Dick) Jepson was born November 9, 1935 at Christ's Hospital (now Stormont-Vail) and entered into Glory on February 4, 2015 at the age of 79 in Topeka Kansas. He was the son of Gladys and Fred Jepson. He is survived by his two brothers, Fred from Topeka and Bob from Scottsdale, AZ. Dick grew up in Topeka in the house on Garden Lane that his dad built. He celebrated a 50th anniversary from Washburn Rural High School. He lived briefly in Eskridge on his folks Chicken Farm and graduated from Eskridge High School in 1953. He received his Associates Degree in Electronics Engineering Technology from Butler County.

Dick married Jane Hodges June 28, 1969 at Lake Norfork Presbyterian in Henderson, Arkansas. The surviving family includes wife, Jane; son, Brian and Tracy Jepson and children Truman, Josiah and Sadie; daughter, Janna and Tim Dunn and daughter Adria. Dick and his family enjoyed water sports, camping and snow-skiing.

Dick served in the Naval Reserves; then the Army in Fairbanks, Alaska. He worked in Data Processing for the State of Kansas; was Assistant Manager for Stanley Hardware stores in Wichita; Electronics Engineering Technology and Supervisor of Data Processing for the US Postal Service. He received a special Achievement Award for notable service in 1983 and retired after 22 years of service in 1996. Since his retirement he and Jane have enjoyed volunteer mission travels in the states and abroad.

Dick and Jane have enjoyed Square Dancing with the Strato-Jets and then Wheatheart Squares. Dick was an avid reader and enjoyed helping with 'handy man' projects for friends and family. He was truly what the Bible calls a Master Craftsman! He remodeled their first home, multiple homes for his children and designed and built their current home. His last project was a tree house for his grand-daughter Sadie.

Dick thoroughly enjoyed being a part of MOPS for many years; volunteered with Jane in the Nursery at Covenant and always served whenever he could. We are to "Preach the Gospel; and if necessary, use words". Dick always was a shining light thru his actions! He has been involved with World Vision; Wycliffe Associates and more recently, helped in the construction of Café Barnabas at Fairlawn Plaza.
