Richard F. 'Dick' Angle, 78, of Berryton, passed away on Wednesday, December 14, 2005 at Midland Hospice House in Topeka. He was born on April 25, 1927 near Los Angeles CA, the son of Cleo and Delila Roberts - Angle. He was raised just outside of Los Angeles where he attended school, and was drafted into the Army Air Corps just out of High School. He was an Army and Air Force Veteran, serving during the Korean War in North Africa, and stateside at Salina.
He was a truck driver for Santa Fe Transportation, and later was employed by Cargill in Topeka where he retired. Dick was a member of the Berryton United Methodist Church, a lifetime member and Past Commander of American Legion # 391 in Richland. He was also a member of the VA and Shawnee County Stroke Groups. He married Nellie Hill on July 25, 1953 at the Richland EUB Church in Richland, KS. Dick enjoyed family, woodworking, and Christmas time was always special to him.
Survivors include Nellie Angle of the home, George Davidson, Berryton, Nancy Pressgrove, Topeka, Elizabeth Keeling and husband Quentin, Olathe, three grandchildren; Cindy Buchanan, Chelsea Davidson, and Abigail Keeling, and one great-grandson, Van Davidson, a brother, Robert Angle of Ohio, and Mary Baldwin of Washington. Survivors also include numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother John Angle, and a grandson, Ted Pressgrove.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Berryton United Methodist Church. Interment will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Berryton with a Military Casualty Detail. Dick will lie in state after noon on Friday at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel with family visitation from 6 – 8 p.m. that evening.
