Richard “Dick” Duncan, 77, of Topeka, passed away on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, surrounded by family. He was born March 13, 1947 in Winfield, Kansas, the son of George and Leora (Whitesell) Duncan.
Dick graduated from Arkansas City High School and earned an Associates in Computer Science from Kansas City Kansas Community College. He was a Navy Veteran serving in the Vietnam War on the U.S.S Koiner.
Dick was employed as a Computer Programmer and Data Base Designer for the Santa Fe Railroad for many years before retiring from Blue Cross/Blue Shield. Dick was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church and a member of the Shriners. He was also a member of the Harley Davidson Owner’s Group.
Dick enjoyed riding his Harley, golfing, fishing/hunting, coaching and playing sports, and his family.
Dick married Marvenia “Kaye” Smith in October 1971. She preceded him in death on August 1, 2022.
Survivors included children Brian Duncan of Chanute, Tennille (Danny) Kress of Topeka, his grandson Ace and multiple nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
A Navy Honor Guard Detail will provide Military Honors beginning promptly at 5:00 p.m. followed by a memorial visitation until 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 18, 2024 at Dove Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota Ave.
