Richard Lee Johnson, 85, of Topeka, passed away Thursday, October 17, 2019.
He was born May 18, 1934, in Lyon County, Kansas, the son of Ralph Linwood and Burnice Minnie (Finn) Johnson. He was a graduate of Admire High School, Admire, Kansas.
Richard was employed by Santa Fe Railroad in Topeka for 37 years, retiring in 1995.
He was a member of Lowman United Methodist Church, Topeka.
Richard married Vesta Lorene Shaw on June 19, 1955 in Admire, Kansas. She preceded him in death on March 19, 2019. Survivors include sons, Bruce L. (Susan) Johnson, Admire, Bryan A. (Monica) Johnson, Topeka; grandchildren, Bruce L. (Christine) Johnson II, Nick (Michelle) Johnson, Elyse (Cole) Percival; and great-grandchildren, Gavin and Asher Johnson, and Zayne and Grant Percival;
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m., Friday, November 1, 2019 for both Richard and Vesta Johnson at the Dove Cremations and Funerals, Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Rd., Topeka.
A memorial service for both Richard and Vesta Johnson will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, November 2, 2019 at Lowman United Methodist Church, Topeka.
Private graveside services will be held at Phillips Cemetery, near Admire.
