Richard Lee Lutz, 81, of Topeka, passed away on Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at a Topeka hospital. He was born October 30, 1933 in Topeka, the son of Frank and Stella Foster Lutz.
Richard graduated from Highland Park High School in 1951. He was an Army Veteran during the Korean War. He was a self-employed contractor in the home building and remodeling industry.
Richard is survived by his wife, Lois A. Weigand whom he married on June 15, 1956 in Topeka. Other survivors include their children, Randall L. (Gayla) Lutz of Houston, TX, Calvin L. (Kathy) Lutz of Topeka, Jeffrey H. (Susan) Lutz of Houston, TX, Krista L. (Mark) Hooper of Topeka, eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and his three siblings, Ronald Lutz of Topeka and his twin sisters, Jeanne Barnhart of Overland Park, KS and June Langley of Lee's Summit, MO. Richard was preceded in death by one sister, Coleen Crook.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 26, 2015 at Pleasant Hill Cemetery southeast of Topeka. Richard will lie in state and the family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. today at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel.
