Richard "Dick" Marolf, 94, of Berryton, passed away on Wednesday, March 2, 2016. He was born June 22, 1921 in Cheyenne Wells, CO, the son of Clarence and Ella (Hartshorn) Marolf. He graduated from Lockwood High School in Lockwood, MO in 1938. He attended Graceland College, Central Missouri State and graduated from Park University in Kansas City, MO with a Bachelor of Arts Degree.
Dick served in the Army Air Corps during WWII. He also served as a Chaplain for the Civil Air Patrol for 22 years.
Dick was a photographer, owning a photo studio in Goodland, KS for several years. He later became the Staff Photographer and was an instructor in the Photo Journalism Department for the University of Kansas for 25 years before retiring in 1983.
Dick was a lifetime member of the Community of Christ Church. He served several years as Pastor in both Goodland and Topeka as an Ordained Elder. In later years, he was Ordained to the office of Evangelist.
Dick married O'Ella Been on April 25, 1943 in Goodland, KS. She survives. Other survivors include three sons, Richard (Kathy) Marolf of Topeka, Lynn (Denise) Marolf of Topeka and Roland (Beth) Marolf of Topeka, six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Lyle Marolf.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 5, 2016 at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel where the family will receive friends one hour prior to service time. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery southeast of Topeka.
