Richard B. "Dick" Northrop, 88, of Topeka, died Tuesday, November 2, 2010 at Brewster Place Health Center. He was born November 25, 1921 in Schenectady, NY to William and Hazel (Fonda) Northrop.
Dick graduated from the University of Michigan in 1942. He worked 38 years as an Analytic Chemist for General Electric. Dick married Norma Maguire in 1945. She preceded him in death in 1994. In 1995, he married Beverly Durham in Glendale, AZ. She survives. Other survivors include two daughters, Diane Irwin (Dr. Richard), Westboro, MA and Sandra Katz (Steve), Scottsdale AZ; a step-daughter, Linda Clark (Gene) of Topeka; a stepson, Larry Sinclair (Lisa), of Phoenix, AZ; seven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. Dick was a member of Christ Community Church in Glendale, AZ and attended vespers at Brewster Place Chapel.
Cremation is planned, and a Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Brewster Place Chapel on the ground floor of the main building. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Penwell Gabel Cemetery.
