Richard R. Ortiz, 81, Topeka, passed away Friday, February 14, 2020 at a local hospital.
Richard was born September 13, 1938 in Santa Fe, NM, the son of Charles and Ramona (Garcia) Ortiz. He graduated from San Bernardino High School.
He served in the U.S. Navy.
He was employed as a machinist with BNSF railroad for 33 years, retiring in 2007.
He had resided in Topeka since 1992.
Richard married Maria Delatorre on January 20, 1962. She died September 11, 2019. Other survivors include children, Eddy (Michelle) Ortiz of Greeley, Colorado, Guy Ortiz of Topeka; grandchildren, Kirstie, Kayla, Tristen, Rikki-Jo, Trevor, Arianna; great-grandchildren, Azailia, Emily, Hayden and Hunter; and siblings, Tony, Sal and Gloria.
Cremation has taken place and as per Richard's wishes, no memorial services are planned. Private inurnment will take place at a later date.
