Richard Vincent "Rick" Davis passed away peacefully in Topeka, Kansas on 19 Feb 2013.
Born in July 1941 in Topeka to parents Richard L. and Faye D. Davis, he graduated from Topeka High School in 1959 and attended college in Iowa and Kansas.
He was a proud grandson of Burton Hill, founder of Hill's Packing Company (now Hill's Pet Nutrition). He worked at Hill's for a time prior to its acquisition by Colgate-Palmolive. In 1965, he and his brother Ronald founded House of Suzuki, a motorcycle dealership selling Bultaco and Suzuki products; he was also a successful Motocross rider. The business expanded to sell Honda products, and was renamed Davis Sport Cycle; it relocated to South Topeka Blvd. Upon his retirement in 2001, he spent time between his home in Topeka and the city of Manzanillo, Mexico, where he enjoyed deep sea fishing.
He leaves behind his wife Ana Lorena Ortiz Davis of Topeka. He is also survived by his first wife, Francina M. Davis of Elko, Nevada and their two sons, Vincent M. Davis of Arvada, Colorado and Paul H. Davis of Omaha, Nebraska; his brother Ronald H. Davis of Topeka; and 5 grandchildren.
His funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 23, 2013 at Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Road. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 9:00 a.m. on Saturday until service time.
