Rick "Ricky" E. Robinson, 60, of Wakarusa, KS, died Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at his home. He was born January 26, 1951 in Alva, OK, the son of William and Lavilla (James) Robinson.
Rick graduated from Capital Hill High School in Oklahoma City. He served in the U.S. Navy, and lived in Wynoka, OK, and Brownwood TX, before coming to Kansas. Rick was in the construction industry before an accident in the mid-1980's left him disabled.
He was always a joker, and loved watching old war movies on his big screen TV. Rick had a huge heart for children, a love of nature, and he rescued many stray animals.
Rick is survived by his close companion, Jennifer Delci, sister, Francis Diaz, brothers; Ronnie Robinson and Thomas Myers, children; Paul Robinson, Phillip Robinson and Shawna Mendez. He is also survived by his grandchildren; Ammie Marie Mendez, Joshua Mendez, Jacob Mendez, Ariel Field Mendez, Jaqueline Robinson, Manuel Robinson, and Thomas Anthony Robinson, great-grandchildren; Izzie Mendez, Elijah Riley William and Jayven Ray Mendez. He was preceded in death by his parents, his step-parents; Helen Robinson and Thomas Myers Jr., sister, Joyce Robinson and great-granddaughter, Alazaya Marie Mendez.
A celebration of his life will be held at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 23, at Dove Cremation & Funeral Service, 4020 SW 6th Ave., Topeka, KS 66606. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, and the family will recite a rosary at 6:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Helping Hands Humane Society, 2625 NW Rochester Rd., Topeka, KS 66617.
