Rita Anne Hutchison

Mrs. Rita A. Hutchison, 82, Topeka, died Monday, December 14 after a long battle with Alzheimer's. The daughter of Stanley and Anna Book, she was born on November 25, 1938 and was raised in Hope, KS. After moving to Topeka, she married Gerald Upchurch and raised four daughters - Sheryl (Roger) Blue, Chris (LM) Westerdale, Jill (Cory) Smith and Michelle Andrews. Following Gerald's death, she married Alvin R. Hutchinson in 1983, he survives. She is also survived by her four daughters and their spouses, 9 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and 2 great, great grandchildren as well as brothers Loren, Phil and Delbert Book. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Jolene DeBose.

Rita worked for Stephenson's Sheet Metal and Commercial Office Supply. Her and her husband Al were well known in the antique market and bought and sold at various flea markets and events. Before her illness, Rita loved to spend time with her family, play cards, shop for antiques, and play the slot machines! She will be missed by all.
