Rita D. Stapleton

Rita D. Stapleton, 71, of Topeka, passed away on Sunday, March 2, 2025. She was born June 25, 1953 in Mobile, Alabama, the daughter of Fletcher and Addie (Hopkins) Weaver.

Rita graduated from Highland Park High School. She was employed by as a Secretary for both USD 501 Topeka Public Schools and USD 450 Shawnee Heights School Districts. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church.

Rita married Michael E. Stapleton. He preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include two children, Christopher "Chris" Stapleton of Mayetta, Sherra Stapleton of Mayetta and her siblings, Kathy Henry of Topeka, Cornelia Newsom of Carbondale, Donna Wells of Alabama, Wendy Johnson of Alabama and Patti Schmidt of Mayetta.

A private Celebration of Rita's Life will be held at a later date. Private inurnment will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Valeo Foundation, 5401 SW 7th St., Topeka, Kansas 66606.

Dove Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota Ave. is assisting the family with service arrangements.
