Robert Edward Roe, 83, Topeka, passed away on Thursday, December 5, 2013. He was born on December 24, 1929 in Sampsel, Missouri to Joe Loban and Theo Frances (Walker) Roe.
Bob graduated from Topeka High School in 1948 and Washburn University in 1957, where he was a charter member of Sigma Phi Epsilon. He was a pilot in the U.S. Navy. Bob worked for Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company for 38 years retiring as the industrial relations director for Asia Pacific region in 1991. He was a member of West Side Christian Church.
On April 25, 1953 he married Shan Neumann in Corpus Christi, Texas, she survives. Also surviving are five children, Joe (Jana) Roe, Topeka; Liana (Mark) Hoffmann, Chicago, IL; Dan (Judy) Roe, Cary, NC; Tyson (Gretchen) Roe, Raleigh, NC and Tim (Amy) Roe, Bonner Springs, KS; one sister, Jane (Gary) Zook, Topeka; 16 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Rebecca Roe and sister, Peg Martin.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, December 9, 2013 at West Side Christian Church, 432 SW Lindenwood, Topeka, KS 66606. Memorial contributions may be made to the West Side Christian Church. Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel is assisting with arrangements.
