Robert G. "Bob" Rusher Sr., 84, of St. Mary's, KS passed away Thursday, March 8, 2012 at his home. He was born December 9, 1927 in Marceline, MO, the son of Signal and Rena Mae (Holt) Rusher.
Bob moved to Topeka with his family as a child, and worked with his father for the railroad before entering into military service. Bob joined the Navy and was a Seabee, serving in the South Pacific during WWII. After serving his country, Bob was employed as a machine operator for DuPont in Topeka. He was married to Ramona Rogers. They later divorced. Bob was a great cook, loved music and western movies, and was always fixing things. (Even if it wasn't broken!)
Bob is survived by his daughters, Charlene Urton (Curtis), Shannon Torneden, Jody Slobojan (Kerry Mauldin); son, Robert G. Rusher Jr.; brother, Lowell (Maria); 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Joseph Rusher, and sisters, Evelyn, Forstella, Trella and Kathleen.
A celebration of Bob's life will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 13th at Dove Cremation & Funeral Service, 4020 SW 6th Ave., Topeka, KS 66606. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the Helping Hands Humane Society.
