Robert H. Wootten

February 21, 1936 — July 24, 2015

Robert "Bob" Harvey Wootten age 79, departed this world on July 24th, 2015 in Ottawa, Kansas. Bob was born on February 21st, 1936 in Baltimore, Maryland to parents, James and Helen Wootten. He graduated from Boone High School in Orlando, Florida in 1954. Also in 1954, Bob joined the United States Air Force and proceeded to serve with the 305th Bomb Squadron as a Crew Chief in France, Germany, and Spain; and the 405th Bomb Squadron in Tampa Bay, Florida and Peru, Indiana. In 1962, after honorably completing his service in the Air Force with the rank of Airman 1st class, he moved to St. Cloud, Florida, and accepted a position as a Pressman at NASA's Kennedy Space Center, where he worked for more than twenty years.

Bob was a great family man and a loving father. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He married J. Angeline (Baldwin) Wootten in Ottawa, Kansas and the couple had three children together.

Bob was a social, active man who loved to travel. He also loved history. He spent his days at home woodworking, gardening, and doting on his dog, Wilbur. Bob delighted in laughter of those around him, and went to great lengths to ensure it was never in short supply. With a carefully concocted historical or hysterical account for every occasion, family and friends will always remember him as the ultimate storyteller.

Bob is survived by his wife, J. Angeline Wootten of Ottawa, Kansas; his three sons, Michael and wife Sharon Wootten, of Walnut Cove, North Carolina; Marshall and wife Kathy Wootten, of Ottawa, Kansas; Mark and wife Amy Wootten, of Harmony, Florida; his nine grandchildren, Lacey Wootten, of Nashville, Tennessee; Lauryn Johnston, of Beaufort, South Carolina; Dustin Wootten, of Oskaloosa, Kansas; Katie Jones, of Frankfort, Kansas; Kotie Wootten, of Manhattan, Kansas, Grant Wootten, of Sukhothai, Thailand; Rebecca Wootten, of Charlotte, North Carolina; Cameron Wootten, of Harmony, Florida; Emily Wootten, of Harmony, Florida; and his three great grandchildren Echo Sanders, of Nashville, Tennessee; Everett Johnston of Beaufort, South Carolina; and Journey Wootten, of Sukhothai, Thailand.

He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Helen Wootten, of Lakeland, Florida; his brother, Ronnie Wootten, of Clearwater, Florida; and his grandchildren, Kristen, Joshua, and Eric Wootten, of St. Cloud, Florida.

A Celebration of Bob's Life will be held at 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 28th at the Rock Creek Church of Christ in Ottawa, Kansas. The family will receive friends and guests from 4:00-5:00 prior to the service.
