Robert William Hermann

Robert William Hermann, 79, of Topeka, passed away Tuesday, June 29, 2021.
He was born March 31, 1942, in Topeka, Kansas, the son of Dick and Nina (Woodard) Hermann. He graduated from Seaman High School in 1960. He served in the United States Marine Corps beginning in 1965, completing one tour during the Vietnam War from 1966 to 1967. He also earned two Purple Hearts and was recommended for the Bronze Star.
Robert was employed by Hogue Construction for over 20 years, including as a partial owner. He later worked as a self-employed trim carpenter and also farmed.
Mr. Hermann was an obsessed golfer.
Survivors include his long term friend , Cheri D. Glover of Topeka; children, Brian Hermann (Jennifer) of Caddo Gap, AR, Brad Hermann (Marlene) of Topeka, and Dustin (Sara) Hermann of Topeka; grandchildren Madison, Delaney, Jake, Zane, and Logan, all of Topeka; siblings Willis Hermann of Bradenton, FL, Diane Trude of Perry, KS, Bev King of Topeka, and Wayne Hermann of Perry, KS. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Robert enjoyed golf, archery, coaching his boys' baseball teams, watching his grandchildren's sports, hunting, and surfing.
A funeral ceremony will be on Friday, July 2nd at 10:00 a.m. at the Dove Cremations and Funerals Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Road in Topeka. Military honors will be provided by the United States Marine Corps and American Legion Post 421. Cremation will follow the ceremony. The family will receive friends at the Dove Southwest Chapel on Thursday, July 1st from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS, 66675-8517.
The family would like to extend a big thanks to the nurses in the oncology unit at the VA.
