Robert "Bob" E. Hogrefe, 85, of Topeka, passed away December 29, 2015. He was born to William F. and Thelma M. (Kiner) Hogrefe on April 4, 1930. He was raised in Salina, Kansas,graduated from Salina High School in 1948 and attended Kansas Wesleyan University. He enlisted in the US Navy as a Hospital Corpsman and served in San Diego, CA.
He married Joan Livingston on June 6, 1954. They had two sons. They were divorced. Bob married Berneta "Bea" L. Powell on October 20, 1962 at Salina, Kansas. Three children were born to this union. They raised their family in Hutchinson, Kansas.
He held many occupations during his life. He worked in sales, worked with the activities director at McCrite Retirement Community, served as a courier for Briggs Auto, and owned and operated Jayhawk Escort, an escort company for wide load transportation. In later years he became an ordained minister. He offered spiritual guidance at McCrite Retirement Community and was the spiritual ambassador at Atria Hearthstone.
Bob was a member of Boy Scouts of America and served as the district commissioner for Jayhawk Area Council for several years. He also served on church council at First Lutheran Church and the resident's council at Atria. He enjoyed cooking, watching the Royals and the Chiefs.
Bob is survived by his two sons: Martin L. Hogrefe of Flagstaff, AZ and Robert Todd (Ann) Hogrefe of Tyler, TX; three daughters: Kimberly A. (Eddie) Hernandez, Deborah K. Goodman and Donna L. Hogrefe all of Topeka; 9 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Betty A. Holtzen of Abilene, KS.
He was preceded in death by his wife Bea in 2011, and his parents.
Memorial services will be held Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at First Lutheran Church, 1234 SW Fairlawn Rd. Topeka, KS 66604. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
A private inurnment will be held at a later date.
