Robert George "Bob" Kahler, 91, of Topeka, passed away Wednesday, August 23, 2023 surrounded by his loving family.
He was born May 2, 1932, in Wabaunsee County, Kansas, the son of George and Vera (Murray) Kahler. He graduated from Seaman High School in 1949. He served as a Sergeant in the Army from 1952 - 1954.
Bob was employed by Goodyear Tire for 31 years. In his retirement years he and his wife Barbara opened B & B Pines, their Christmas Tree Farm, operating from 1976 – 2000.
Mr. Kahler was a member of the VFW Post 460, Clerk Soldier Township, Board of Directors of Rubber Workers (also served as Treasurer), National Trappers Association, Board of CRWD #4, and the Kansas Fur Harvesters Association.
Robert married Barbara Swader on December 27, 1950 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Topeka. She survives.
Other survivors include children, Robert W. (Audra) Kahler, Darren (Ann) Kahler, and Julie Garren, 6 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 11 great great grandchildren, and sister, Linda Springer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughters, Heidi (Garren) Everly, and Kristy (Billings) Adkins, son-in-law, Marty Garren, and brothers, Richard Kahler, Larry Kahler, and Wayne Kahler.
Bob loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed trapping and teaching others to do so, farming, hunting, fishing, and always came back with some stories.
Honoring his wishes, Bob was cremated. A Celebration of Life will be determined at a later date.
