Robert L. Harvey, 86, passed away on September 22, 2016, at Midland Care. Bob, as known by his family and friends, was born on September 30, 1929 to Alice and George Harvey Sr.
Bob attended school in the Topeka & Berryton, Kansas area, graduating high school in 1951. Bob joined the United States Air Force and served in the Korean War. He served at Hill Air Force Base in Utah and Tschechowa Air Force Base in Japan; earning the rank of Airman 1st Class.
Following Bob's career in the military, he met the love of his life Shirley Oden, when a chance throwing of a snowball hit her in the face and sent her earmuffs to the front of her face. They married on July 29, 1956, and just this year celebrated 60 years of marriage. Through those years they had a love that was timeless!
In October 1956, Bob joined KP&L, where he dedicated 32 years of service and retired in May 1988.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents; five brothers; and one sister. Bob leaves behind his loving wife, Shirley; and sons, James (Marilyn), John, Joseph, and Jeff (Dilynn), all of Topeka. Bob was blessed with eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He is also survived by one sister in San Diego, California; and three brothers, all of Topeka.
Memorial visitation will be from 2:00-4:00 p.m. Tuesday, September, 27, 2016, at Dove Cremation & Funeral Service. Memorial contributions can be made to Midland Care or Helping Hands Humane Society in Bob's honor.
