Robert Lee Evertson, 70, of Topeka, passed away January 23, 2015 after a brief illness. Bob was born December 28, 1944 in Wichita, the son of the late Merlin and Eleanor Evertson. He retired from Topeka Public Schools in 2003 after 33 years of service.
Bob and his Sheltie therapy dogs, Holly Marie, Amanda and Misty Marie visited Topeka Care Homes and made many friends. In 2010, Grace Hospice honored Bob and his Shelties, Sandy and Chance for their 750 hours of visits as a member of the Senior and Retired Volunteer Program. Bob said," I know I am doing a good job when I see the smile on people's faces."
Bob is survived by Kelley Evertson, daughters, Renae McCabe, Gayla Carver, Angela Cain; his grandchildren, brothers, Stephen and Bradley Evertson and sister, Leigh Anne Kirk.
A graveside service will be held Monday, February 2nd at 1:00 p.m. at Penwell Gable Cemetery, 6th and Gage in Topeka. Memorials for Bob may be sent to Helping Hands Humane Society, 5720 SW 21st, Topeka, KS 66604 or Southwest Christian Church, 5747 SW Huntoon, Topeka, KS 66604.
