Robert L. Whitworth, age 84, of Osage City, Kansas passed away July 15, 2015 at Topeka, Kansas. Robert was born on June 28, 1931 in Chanute, Kansas at his grandparents' home to Frederick Leon and Dorothy May (Schofield) Whitworth.
Robert was an only child who was raised in Erie, Kansas. He graduated in 1950 from Erie High School. After graduation he attended telegraphy school to learn to become a telegraph operator for the Santa Fe Railway. He worked in Chicago and at Ft. Madison where he was inducted into the Army. He served in Korea from 1952 to 1953. After his discharge, he went to work for Santa Fe in Topeka where he met his wife of 37 years, Agnes Lucille Krouse. They were married March 25, 1956 in Westmoreland, Kansas. Robert left the railroad in 1959 to work for Dupont, retiring in 1985 after 26 years. Robert and Agnes enjoyed many years of being together raising their children, gardening and traveling until Agnes' passing in 1993.
Robert is survived by his three children: Greg Whitworth of Lawrence, Kansas, Terri Ramsdell of Carbondale, Kansas and Shellie Wilms of Salt Lake City, Utah; six grandchildren: Shawn Ramsdell, Scott Nelson, Jason Ramsdell, Heather Ramsdell, D'mi Whitworth and Jaden Wilms; and two great-grandchildren: Aubrie Ramsdell and Drake Nelson.
Inurnment will be at a later date at Carbondale Cemetery with military honors. He will be buried beside his wife.
