Robert P. Mize, 98, passed away on Wednesday April 21, 2010 in St. Louis, Missouri. He was born August 11, 1911 in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Anna and Ornal Mize. He grew up on a farm near Williamsburg, Kansas.
Bob graduated from Baker University in 1934. He was commissioned in the Navy during WWII. Receiving his Masters degree from Kansas University in 1947, he went on to earn his CPA from KU in 1949. In 1950 he and his wife, Mary, moved to Topeka, where he practiced accounting until 1956 when he and his partner, Ralph Houser, co-founded Mize, Houser and Company. He was a man who believed in hard work and devotion to his family.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 57 years, Mary. Survivors include sons, Jim Mize and wife, Connie, Joel Mize; grandchildren, Kris Mize and wife, Michelle, Patrick Mize; and great-grandchildren Carter and Drew.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, April 29, 2010 at Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel, 3700 Wanamaker Road, Topeka, KS 66610. Visitation will be at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Mt Hope Cemetery in Williamsburg, Kansas
