Robert "Leon" Rasdall, 81, of Topeka, passed away February 17, 2012 at Lexington Park Nursing Facility. Leon was born August 1, 1930, in Greenleaf, KS, the son of John F. and Ruby A. (Bell) Rasdall. He was raised in Beloit, KS, and remained there until 1950. On July 31, 1949, in Beloit, he married Dolores D. Burger. They spent 59 wonderful years together.
Leon spent much of his career as a truck driver around the Topeka area. After retiring from the trucking business, he was a school bus driver for Laidlaw & Durham in Topeka. He was a devoted family man and spent most of his time with family and friends. Leon very much enjoyed fishing and yard work.
Survivors include a daughter, Sandy (Lloyd) Eastwood; a son, Robert (Patty) Rasdall, II; five grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Leon will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, and devoted husband and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Dolores, on October 1, 2008; three brothers; and one sister.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February, 22, 2012, at Dove Cremation & Funeral Service, 4020 SW 6th Avenue, Topeka. Burial will follow in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. Mr. Rasdall will lie in state after 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 837 S.
