Robert E. "Bob" Raymer, 91, Topeka, passed away Sunday, January 17, 2021 at Kelly House Nursing of Topeka.
Bob was born October 8, 1929 in Wichita, Kansas, the son of Grady and Mabel (Marcum) Raymer. He graduated from North High School in 1949, and attended Kansas University on a football scholarship. Bob married his loving wife Diane on October 24, 1952, and celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary in 2020. He was in the Army Reserves (89th division of the Signal Corps as a Master Sergeant) for nine years during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in December of 1959.
Bob is survived by his wife Diane; children Marcia Weckbaugh (Gary) and Robert C. Raymer (Dea), both of Topeka; five grandchildren, Brandon Weckbaugh (Amanda) of Lawrence, KS, Cameron Raymer (Ashley) of Shawnee, KS, Clay Raymer (Lauren) of Overland Park, KS, Chelsie Weckbaugh of Topeka, and Kyler Raymer (Kendra) of Lawrence, KS; and six great-grandchildren, Theo, Lorelei, Laken, Chloe, Emery, and Easton.
Bob was a retired employee of Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, having had 38 years of service. He retired July 1, 1987. He held various positions, beginning as a lineman and retiring as an engineer in management.
The family would like to thank the staff at Interim Hospice for the wonderful, loving care and attention given to our loved one. Nurse Deanna, we love you! There will be a private (due to Covid) family graveside service and inurnment at Mount Hope Cemetery of Topeka. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Interim Hospice Health Care, 1251 SW Arrowhead Road, Topeka, KS, 66604.
