Robert J. Renyer, 70, of Wakarusa, passed away on Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at his home. He was born on May 25, 1938 in Topeka, the son of Louis H. and Irene L. Quaney Renyer. He graduated from Berryton High School in 1956. He was employed by Boeing Aircraft, Wichita prior to serving in the Army. He worked for the Santa Fe Railroad for 37 years before retiring in 2000. He served as President of the Topeka Auto Racing Boosters, a member of Topeka Quarter Midget Racing Assoc., founding board member of the Mid America Quarter Midget Assoc. and a volunteer fireman at Topeka Fairgrounds. Bob married Dee Lafferty on June 20, 1959 in Topeka. She survives. Other survivors include two daughters, Sheila (KC) Roberson, Shawna (Scott) Mercer, two sons, Randy (Kay) Renyer, Mark (Becky) Renyer, nine grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, one brother, Butch Renyer and one sister, Patty Richards. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Leonard Renyer. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel.
