Robert Rice, Iii

At the age of 73, Mr. Robert H. Rice, III lost his 10 plus years battle with COPD, on Saturday, June 13, 2009. He was a beloved son, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Bob was born on July 24, 1936 in Neligh, NE. He retired as a Master Sergeant from the USAF in 1976, later retiring from the State of Kansas.

He married Karin Gunther on November 11, 1959 in Vallendar, West Germany. She preceded him in death on July 18, 2000.

Survived by his mother, Judy Eubank, three daughters, Missy Behymer, Eileen Joost, Roberta Rice and one son, Robert IV, 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

Bob was a member of Capitol Post #1 American Legion, VFW, Eagles and the Democratic Action Committee.

Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Tues., June 16 at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel. Family will greet friends from 7:00-8:00 p.m. Mon. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Zion Cemetery, Tecumsh, KS. Military Honors conducted by Whiteman Air Force.
