Robert H."Bob" Rogers, 86, Topeka, passed away on Saturday, July 18, 2009 at Midland Hospice House.
Bob was born September 16, 1922 in Lakeview, SC, the son of Valery and Jo (Ivey) Rogers. He grew up in Rocky Mount, NC.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He worked as a brick mason for M.W. Watson Construction and later was self employed as a Farrier.
He was a member of the Topeka Gem & Mineral Society, the Strato Jets Square Dance Club and was a former President of the Kansas Square Dance Association.
Bob married Ernestine Curtis on October 27, 1945 in Stafford. She survives. Other survivors include daughters, Tina (Jacob) Burghart, Tecumseh, Deborah (Margie) Rogers, Topeka; son, Robert (Belinda) Rogers, Louisville, KY; grandchildren, Jessica & Jayme, Melinda, Margaret, Morgan, Molly, Leslie; and great grandsons, Aaron, Curtis and Isaiah. He was preceded in death by a brother and three sisters.
Funeral services will at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 23, 2009 at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Gardens. Bob will lie in state at the funeral home after 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday and visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
