Robert Eugene "Bob" VanDruff, 73, of Topeka, passed away Tuesday, December 22, 2020 after experiencing many health complications for the past 6 months. He was born May 22, 1947, in Manhattan, Kansas, the son of the late Alvin and Hazel (Hoaglund) VanDruff.
Bob was a graduate of Manhattan High School and graduated from Clark's School of Business. He was employed by A&P Grocery Stores in Manhattan and Topeka from high school through 1977 when he became a letter carrier for over 30 years.
Bob was a disabled Veteran of the Vietnam War. He served in the Mobile Riverine Force in the US Navy. The MRF was the first time the Army and Navy had worked together since the Civil War. He earned many military ribbons and awards, plus a Purple Heart.
Bob and Nancy enjoyed traveling via camping in 49 of the states. They loved their '65 Impala SS, which they restored to look exactly like the one Bob owned and sold previously. He was a skilled woodworker, building furniture for their home and was always fixing something.
Bob married Nancy A. Theobald on July 10, 1970 in Yates Center, Kansas. She survives. Other survivors include one daughter, Carrie VanDruff of Topeka and his sister, Karen VanDruff Brown of Sun City, California.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 28, 2020 at Dove Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota Ave. Burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery southeast of Topeka. Masks and social distancing must be observed.
