Robert J. Wunder, 89, of Topeka, passed away Sunday, February 16, 2020.
He was born August 3, 1930, in Topeka, Kansas, the son of Charles C. and Lily Viola (Lane) Wunder. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict and later in the Kansas Air National Guard.
Robert was employed by M Katch & Company retiring after approximately 38 years. He also worked at Kansas Automotive part-time after retirement.
Robert was a member of Christ The King Catholic Church, of Topeka, American Legion Post #400 and the Knights of Columbus #534.
Robert married Peggy Lou Wilcox on July 9, 1955 in Topeka, KS and later divorced. He married Marcella Coffman on October 10, 1980 in Topeka, KS during the Royals and Yankees play offs.
Survivors include a wife, Marcella Wunder of Topeka, KS; two daughters, Annette Hollingdale of Topeka, KS and Jeanine Ward of Skiatook, OK; two sons, Daniel (Denise ) Wunder of Topeka, KS, Timothy (Jennifer ) Wunder of Mayetta, KS; two step-sons, David (Gina) Coffman and Kevin (Linda ) Coffman both of Topeka, KS; a sister, Hilda (AJ) Smith of Virginia; twenty grandchildren, forty-two great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Douglas Wunder; a grandson, Matthew Dreher; seven brothers, Cecil Martin, Charles Wunder, John Wunder, Albert Wunder, Leo Wunder , Thomas Wunder and Donald Wunder; three sisters, Catherine McGlohn, Louise Eckman and Lucy Morrisey.
Robert enjoyed gardening, bowling, playing golf, dancing and his grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 21, 2020 at Christ The King Catholic Church, 5973 SW 25th St, Topeka. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Topeka. A Rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, February 20, 2020 at the Dove Cremations and Funerals, Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Rd, Topeka. The family will receive friends until 8:00 p.m.
